A speculative future community where sleep, dreams, duration, and bodily rhythms become productive resources.
Introduction
Sleep Town is a speculative design project about the sleep economy. It imagines a future community that treats sleep as a productive resource: residents generate income while asleep, and their dreams, sleep duration, and bodily rhythms are incorporated into an evaluation system. Through fictional world-building, bed design, and a window-like display, the project presents a quiet society that never stops operating. It asks whether the body can retain any truly empty time once rest is quantified and managed.
The work uses a window installation to reveal the town's internal order, positioning the audience as observers looking into a site of production wrapped in a soft system. Sleep Town asks whether, when technology begins to approach the unconscious, the body can still possess time that cannot be measured, managed, or put to use.

Process
The project develops its argument through a fictional social system, a highly detailed town model, designed sleep furniture, and an installation that frames the audience as distant observers.
